The Nigeria Maritime University Library is set to host an insightful webinar titled “AI as a Tutor vs. AI as a Ghostwriter: Drawing the Red Line” on Wednesday, 13th May 2026 by 11:00 a.m. via Zoom.The webinar is designed to examine the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence in education, research, and academic writing, while addressing the ethical boundaries surrounding its use. As AI tools become increasingly popular among students, researchers, and professionals, the session aims to promote responsible and productive engagement with these technologies.

The webinar is designed to examine the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence in education, research, and academic writing, while addressing the ethical boundaries surrounding its use. As AI tools become increasingly popular among students, researchers, and professionals, the session aims to promote responsible and productive engagement with these technologies.The event will feature Prof. Oluwole Morenikeji, AI Expert and Tutor from the Federal University of Technology (FUT), Minna, who will provide practical insights into how AI can support learning without compromising academic integrity.

The webinar will be hosted by the University Librarian, Dr. Fatimah Abduldaiyan, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Flora Oluwafemi, with support from the Registrar, Dr. Paul Bebenimibo.

Participants are expected to gain a deeper understanding of:

  • Ethical use of AI in academic environments
  • AI as a learning and research support tool
  • The dangers of overdependence on AI-generated content
  • Academic integrity and originality in the digital age
