SUMMARY:The Nigeria Maritime University Institutional Repository (IR): A Step by Step Guide. ‎
DESCRIPTION:‎The Nigeria Maritime University Library commenced its Institutional Repository training programme on Thursday\, 22nd January 2026 with an online webinar titled “Using the NMU Institutional Repository: Step-by-Step Guide.” The virtual session introduced staff\, lecturers\, cadets\, and members of the NMU community to the purpose\, benefits\, and effective use of the University’s Institutional Repository\, with emphasis on research visibility\, preservation\, and access.‎‎ \n\n\n\nFollowing the successful online session\, the Library proceeded with physical\, hands-on training sessions to provide participants with practical experience. The first physical training was held yesterday at the Kurutie Campus\, where participants were guided through live demonstrations on accessing\, uploading\, and managing scholarly works on the NMU Institutional Repository. \n\n\n\n‎‎The training programme will be rounded up tomorrow at the Okerenkoko Campus\, as the Library continues its commitment to building research capacity and promoting open access to scholarly outputs across both campuses of the University.‎‎The NMU Library remains dedicated to supporting teaching\, learning\, and research through continuous user education and innovative library services.

SUMMARY:Owning Your Identity: One Researcher at a Time!
DESCRIPTION:  \n\nIn line with the 2025 International Open Access Week theme\, “Who Owns Our Knowledge?“\, the NMU Library and Yobe State University Library is organising an engaging programme titled: Owning Your Identity: One Researcher at a Time”. It is designed to help researchers understand and take charge of their scholarly identity in a digital and open knowledge environment. \n\nThe event will feature experienced professionals who will facilitate interactive sessions on building and managing researcher profiles\, enhancing visibility through Open Access platforms\, protecting intellectual identity\, and leveraging global scholarly tools to increase impact. \n\nThe Libraries intends to create awareness ahead of the event through its social media platforms\, using flyers\, reels\, and short features.
